Melamine Laminate Edgebanding Melamine edgebanding consists of a single layer resin saturated paper which has been printed, embossed and cured in line to produce a finished edgebanding. Saturation Melamine edgebanding is comprised of a single layer cellulose paper base which has been impregnated with a specially formulated resin. The resin gives the single layer paper internal strength (or internal bond) prior to printing. Printing This paper is then printed to achieve a solid color, woodgrain or abstract design. After printing it is finished with coats of melamine based resins to provide color fastness, opacity and wear resistance. EmbossingEmbossing of the surface finish is achieved by a mechanical texturing process. In a few cases a chemical emboss is achieved. This is accomplished when the printing inks have a special chemical added. On top coating, the print rejects the resin which thus leaves a gap giving a very realistic effect similar to the regular embossing. CuringAfter the single layer impregnated paper has been printed, finished with coats of melamine resin and mechanically or chemically embossed it is cured by passing through a drying/curing oven process. This continuous process produces a finished edgebanding which is tough and flexible as well as stain and heat resistant. Features and Benefits- An economical edging which offers good value.
